We are one of the highest populated countries in the whole world, and, we somehow fail to generate jobs? Actually… that’s not the truth, jobs are available to all, but people with specific personality traits are nowhere to be found. This is because people are not in their desired careers. Having a population of more than 138 crore and yet we have not discovered the art to get selected for a job? Practically, how is it possible? Don’t you think that it should be part of one’s curriculum?
In today’s hustle and bustle, students are carrying high-level degrees and yet they are not getting good jobs, they are forced to opt for lower grade profiles, people with “MBA” degrees are working in parking lots or highly qualified students are applying for a position of peon, it is because of the bad decisions we take while choosing our streams, schools, and universities. Students nowadays are collecting degrees but not practical knowledge. More than job seekers we need to be self-driven people who can create jobs.
CEOs of various national or multinational companies, want a dedicated employee for the company, full of enthusiasm and creativity, on which the employer can trust. The employer searches for a candidate who has a leadership quality and is capable of leading the organization towards excellence.
One can have an MBA degree but if it’s not from a reputed institute and the candidate is not having worthy ideas then what is the point of having that degree? For any progressive company, sometimes, a degree is just like a piece of paper. What they expect from their employees is out of the box ideas, creativity, dedication and this can’t be taught in any college, this is a lifestyle one should follow from childhood. Parents should teach their wards: –
*how to be presentable *how to be a smart worker and a go-getter
*how to dedicate themselves in a work when a job or a task is given to you
*not to get involved in chatters and to be loyal towards their employer.
No college can teach them how to become a worthy human being. They can only teach them techniques to become a good employee. What they can provide them is textbook knowledge. They tell them about exams, “If you can perform well, you can have degrees in your hands “but what they forget to mention is that when you are going to face life, an employer is expecting you to have a wonderful personality, as well as go-getter approach. That person is not expecting someone with only 100% marks or holding a degree from a good university.
Our ignorance discourages the policymakers to plan a more innovative and practical approach along with infrastructural setup, because of this ignorance and reservation policies our students have to go overseas which leads to brain drain.
In a Utopian case, the parents would be more than happy to accept their wards and his ambitions but the sad reality is that we fail to acknowledge the child’s dreams. Let us say, that your child wants to become a writer or an artist or is passionate about modeling, we tend to believe that it is an unrealistic thought. I believe being parents we just dictate our perspective which we usually received in our childhood. Here I am not talking about those parents who listen and help their children to follow their passion. If a child is having a leadership quality, we should encourage that child to pursue something extraordinary which can create hope and job opportunities for others as well.
Being a parent and a member of the social order, we should prepare our children and tell them to be ready for the rejections too. If a child is academically average, then they are forced to believe that “they are not studious “and “they don’t have much authority to question someone “and this is the biggest blunder we usually do to our children. We hold their rights, we don’t allow them to take stand for themselves, we always tell them that you are not “up to the mark”, “you are not intelligent” and “you are not authorized to ask questions“, we tell them to be in a dilemma, in a complexity which is not the loss of that but a loss of the society as a whole and the same complexion will be passed on to the next generation too, until an academically intelligent person acceptable to the society is going to take birth in that family.
